Welcome! My journey has been an eclectic one. When I started Inspired by Laurie years ago as a freelance writer and health, fitness, and beauty professional, it was always my commitment to cultivate my crafts and all that motivated and inspired me. My passion has been to share this with others that are aligned with similar interests and visions.
Of course, as with commitment and perseverance to any long-standing endeavor, there have been twists, turns, and challenges along the way. But over time, as life presents itself, I find myself coming full circle with purpose and intention. Inspired By Laurie is entering a new chapter. As a health and fitness professional, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with thousands of clients and students for over 25 years. Within my industry, I have been of service as a representative in all forms of media including television, radio, print publications, the fitness competition sector, calendars, guest appearances, and more. I’ve had the honor of teaching at private studios, universities, health clubs and gyms of all fitness disciplines, in the private sector, as a motivational speaker and fitness advocate as well as a choreographer for performances at festivals and events. This led me into the beauty industry where I worked in many facets until I fell in love with spray tanning. As a fair skinned woman with light hair, I experimented with sunless tanners since I was a teenager. I hardly tan in the sun and wanted to preserve my skin. While freelancing through a spa as a yoga teacher, nutrition consultant, and makeup artist, I was introduced into the art of spray tanning. I decided to start my own business as a licensed mobile spray tanning artist and quickly built a loyal clientele. I use naturally derived products that are ethically sourced and produce a gorgeous glow. That was over 16 years ago and I am now re-launching with expanded availability. My roads have always pointed to writing. I’m a lover of research, knowledge, expression, communication, and creativity. I am a published author, poet, essayist, scriptwriter, columnist, and content curator. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Certification in Modern Journalism from New York University, and a Certification from the University of Georgia in Grantwriting.
